About Us

Our members come from all walks of life, span seven decades in age and range from professional musicians to talented high schoolers. Scholarships to study and perform choral music are offered to high school and college students who exhibit vocal talent and dedication to music. The love of music, the clasical choral repertoire and performing at a high amateur level are all at the heart of an Asheville Symphony Chorus member. Meet our Board Members.

Membership in the Chorus is by audition. Please contact our Director, Dr. Michael Lancaster to schedule an audition.

In addition to the annual concerts with the Symphony and the Chorus' independent performances, we recently performed a community sing-along of Mozart's Requiem as the kick-off musical event of the 2017 Asheville Amadeus festival and a community sing-along of Handel's Messiah at the start of the 2016 holiday season. Both performances delighted and inspired participants and audience members alike. We annually perform flash mobs around the Asheville area, singing Handel's Hallelujah Chorus and We Wish You a Merry Christmas to the delight of dozens of people in each of six different venues. The surprise and wonder -- and sometimes tears of joy -- on the faces of Asheville shoppers is heartwarming to see.
